More about Horse Star Hay grass seed mixture

The pasture is your horse's favorite place. Here, it can peacefully graze on fresh grass, expend energy, and trot around.

Your horse has the following requirements for its pasture:

  • Endure intensive trampling throughout the year
  • The sod must be very dense to prevent sod pulling
  • Grass should recover quickly
  • Palatable but not too energy-rich
  • Very low levels of fructan (reserve carbohydrate) and protein
  • Structure-rich grass is preferred
  • Diverse and varied composition for a stronger immunity

Horse Star Hay is specifically formulated to meet all these requirements. It is also highly suitable for seeding in conjunction with our Herb Mix.

Composition

  • 49% Creeping bentgrass is a grass species often used as feed for horses. It has a high nutritional value and is rich in fiber, which contributes to healthy digestion. Additionally, it is an excellent source of roughage and can help maintain a healthy weight. Creeping bentgrass is often highly digestible and is appreciated by both horses and ponies. It can be offered as hay or in other forms of roughage.
  • 20% Timothy has the highest cold resistance and ensures that, after a harsh winter, the grass mat will regrow early in the spring. Timothy also has a low fructan content and a high structural value.
  • 10% Soft rush has a very strong drought tolerance and winter hardiness.
  • 10% Meadow foxtail has a high flavor quality.
  • 10% Festulolium (Lolium type) is a hybrid between ryegrass (Lolium perenne) and fescue (Festuca spp.) and is often used as feed for horses. This grass is known for its high nutritional value, good digestibility, and resistance to drought. It provides a rich source of fiber and is ideal for horses in all life stages, as it aids digestion and helps maintain a healthy weight. Festulolium is also palatable to horses, making it a popular choice in roughage and pasture management.
  • 1% Sweet vernal grass is a valuable grass species for horses. It has a distinctive scent and is often found in natural meadows. Sweet vernal grass offers good nutritional value and is rich in fiber, contributing to healthy digestion. It is tasty for horses and is often included in hay or as pasture grass. Additionally, it has a positive impact on the overall health and well-being of horses.
